This course will introduce beginners to basic strumming and chord fingering and will teach songs from session one. Because the ukulele is mainly used for accompaniment to voice it would be helpful if participants are prepared to sing along to the tunes as they are learning them. It will be necessary for course members to bring their own ukulele. Soprano concert or tenor models are most suitable. Bringing a clip on tuner will also be helpful. The chord fingerings of the ukulele are similar to those used on the guitar but much easier to manage so this course could also be seen as a step towards playing the guitar. Prerequisite skills include: Reading and simple maths and ability to use individual fingers This Course could lead to a Ukulele for Improvers Course or membership of a local group.
