Course code for reference LS6LHAV2008 Aims of the Course To get the most from a variety of genealogy based websites. Identify which websites can help particular genealogy research by locating specific data collections. Discover and explore the many help and advice options. Change search terms and use wild card searches to produce different findings. Search the National Archive and County Archive catalogues. Plan and document research. Describe reasons why problems are encountered. Describe the importance of identifying the clues which can be provided by sources.Employ a variety of strategies for overcoming research problems. About the Course Do you feel that you are not getting the most out of the wide range of family history websites such as Ancestry or FindMyPast? Do you want to find your way around the National Archive or County Archive online catalogue? Then this course can help you!.A basic knowledge/experience in family history research would be ideal but not essential. Basic computer skills and experience in using the internet is essential. For the first session you will need to buy/bring a notebook and pen. Any details relating to your family history that you would like to work on. This Course could lead to other genealogy courses and workshops.
