English Literature offers you the opportunity to examine, discuss and appreciate some of the most stimulating texts in our language. The course fosters vital skills of analysis and discussion and should appeal to all who enjoy reading, sharing ideas and developing writing skills. What do I study and how will I be assessed?The whole course is based on 4 units of study, covering all Literary genres – Prose, Poetry and Drama.The AS units are: Unit 1 Explorations in Prose and Poetry Unit 2 Explorations in Drama The A2 units are: Unit 3 Interpretations of Prose and Poetry Unit 4 Reflections in Literary StudiesCoursework of 2500-3000 words max (40% of A2 / 20 % of overall marks). The structure of the course aims to follow a clear line of progression developing skills and abilities used in GCSE and assessed in its entirety at the end.
