Unit F321 Atoms, Bonds and Groups – the structure of the atom, formulae, equations, bonding and structures and the Periodic Table. Unit F322 Chains, Energy and Resources – organic chemistry i.e. that based on carbon, including chemicals from oil, energy changes in reactions, rates of reaction, chemistry of the air and green chemistry. Unit F323 Practical Skills in Chemistry 1 – candidates are assessed on one task from each of the following categories: qualitative, quantitative and evaluative. The A2 units are: Unit F324: Rings, Polymers and Analysis – deeper knowledge and understanding of how organic chemistry shapes the natural world and how organic chemicals provide many important materials. Students will also learn about how spectroscopy is used to find the structure of carbon compounds. Unit F325: Equilibria, Energetics and Elements – provides candidates with a more detailed study of physical chemistry, including the quantitative and graphical treatment of reaction rates and equilibria, as well as acids, bases and buffers and Transition Elements. Unit F326: Practical Skills in Chemistry 2 – candidates are assessed on one task from each of the following categories: qualitative, quantitative and evaluative.
