Access to Higher Education – Health Professionals Route – Level 3

The course covers Biology, Psychology, English and Maths as well as Health Studies. It will provide you with the skills required to pursue a place at university in related healthcare and nursing programmes. Successful students have gone on to gain places in all branches of nursing and social work, along with teaching and business degrees. Examples of training opportunities are: nursing, children’s healthcare, adult healthcare, mental health, special needs, midwifery, audiology and social work. The course is a full-time programme, however, it can be delivered part-time over 2 years, please contact the Customer Service Team for more information. Modules: Human Biology modules: • Cell biology & Biochemistry • Genetics • Infectious Diseases • Reproduction • Biological Communications • Skeleton and muscle • The Cardiac & Respiratory System • Nutrition and digestion Health studies modules: • Ethics & Inequalities • Foundations in Healthcare Practice Psychology: • Perspectives in Psychology • Conformity & Obedience • Psychopathology • Understanding Stress Additional Modules: • Core Study Skills - which includes study skills, research methods, applying for HE and presentation skills • GCSE Mathematics – improving your grade from a D to a C * • Maths in a Nursing Context * If you already have grade C, you can be exempted on production of your certificate. Future opportunities On successful completion of the course you will gain an Access to Higher Education Diploma accredited by Aims Award. Progression At University: - BSc Degree in Nursing, Midwifery and other health-related subjects.
