This Level 2 music course, equivalent to four GCSEs at grades A*-C, offers you the opportunity to study both practical and theoretical aspects of music. The course combines elements of music performance and technology and give students an insight into a variety of elements involved in creating music. You'll explore the music industry, develop your performance skills, and explore the use of studio technology and software in the creation of music. Music students benefit from multiple opportunities to perform both formally and informally. Core units include: Working in the Music Industry - investigating jobs and possible careers Professional Development - assessing your own skills and setting career targets Planning and Creating a Musical Product - producing a CD single and performing this live Optional units include: Exploring Musical Composition Computer Systems for Music Working as an Ensemble Solo Music Performance Introducing DJ Techniques Producing a Musical Recording All work is portfolio-based and is assessed through written assignments, practical assessments, observations, diaries, and logbooks.
