This course is for students seeking a solid foundation on which to build a career in IT and computing or to enter Higher Education. Students make extensive use of the Internet and email, networking, and industrial and commercial systems. Computer Systems This unit outlines the fundamental ways in which a computer works, starting with simple logic and progressing to a simple model of a microprocessor. Principles of Software Design and Development This unit focuses on the whole design and development process. Developing Computer Games This unit is intended to prepare you for the exciting and creative journey of designing, developing, and testing computer game solutions. Event Driven Programming This unit will help you to familiarise yourself with the underpinning concepts of event driven programming. You are internally assessed through assignments that are set and marked. There are two externally-assessed pieces of coursework in the second year. Optional Cisco CCNA units in Year 2.
