Equivalent to three A Levels, this course offers you the opportunity to study both practical and theoretical music and music technology units. The course is designed for students who are interested in music performance and technology. Students will need to be able to perform or play an instrument to a proficient level and will be expected to explore aspects of music technology. You will be studying a wide range of subjects that reflect the employment opportunities in the contemporary market place. The course will develop your musical and creative abilities, as well as your understanding of the music industry more generally. There are 18 units studied in total, with Year 1 introducing you to specialist skills. Year 1 units include: Music Performance Techniques Music Production Techniques Music Theory and Harmony Sequencing Systems and Techniques & Composing Music Music in Society & The Sound and Music Industry Concert Production & Staging In Year 2, you'll develop your specialist skills further, whilst making an EP and exploring film music. The year culminates in a major performance task.
