Geography is a diverse and engaging subject that covers issues relevant to our world today. A range of technologies are used for fieldwork, which can be undertaken on any area of the specification content. The specification embraces contemporary geography, whilst retaining key elements of traditional geography. The subject content follows an 'issues and impacts' approach throughout. It has a developmental structure which helps to facilitate progression through the course and beyond. Unit 1, Physical and Human Geography, is divided into two sections: understanding key environments and the fundamentals of population in human geography. These are addressed with an emphasis on change and development over space and time and their implications. Unit 2, Geographical Skills, engages with a range of basic and more sophisticated geographical skills. You will develop: your own roles, values, and attributes in relation to the themes and issues being studied team-working and time management skills through the challenges of fieldwork activities your understanding of geographical concepts and processes to understand and interpret our changing world as a global citizen who recognises the challenges of sustainability and the implications for your own and others' lives connections between the different aspects of geography
