If you are interested in learning how to draw people then this is the course for you! In each session, with the guidance of artist Clare Langlands, a different drawing technique or approach will be demonstrated and explained, which you will then be able to put into practice using The Beaney's varied and interesting collection of paintings as a resource. There will be plenty of guidance and support and you will enjoy gaining an increased understanding of the portraits in the collection. The course will run on the following dates: 19/4/16, 26/4/16, 10/5/16 and 17/5/16. By the end of the course you should be able to - Demonstrate an understanding of facial proportion, - Practise different techniques for drawing features, - Use a selection of drawing materials with some confidence, - Engage with and respond to the work of other artists, - Generate ideas for further drawing using The Beaney collection as a resource. There is no 'homework' for this course, but you might like to research artists and ideas referred to on the course in your own time. There is no qualification for this course. This course is for beginners and those with a little experience of drawing.
