This level 1 Teaching Assistant Introduction course covers the different ways in which children learn and the most effective ways of supporting them with literacy and numeracy skills. Not only is it useful for anyone considering taking a qualification as a Teaching Assistant, but it is suitable for both parents and classroom helpers of children aged 5 to 11 years. By the end of the Teaching Assistant Introduction course, students should be able to: Produce written evidence of two learning theories describing how children learn. Describe at least one strategy for developing skills in Key Stage 1 and 2 reading, writing and spelling. State how a selection of strategies can be applied to develop a child's literacy, numeracy and ICT skills. Create or adapt a learning resource for use by children. Students will also write about activities undertaken in class and this will form part of their portfolio of evidence for assessment at the end of the course. Students will gain a certificate on successful completion of the course - Laser Level 1 Introduction to Supporting Children's Learning.
