By AD 600 Kent was the leading English kingdom and a prototype medieval state; by AD 1000 Kent was a shire county of the kingdom of England. This course examines key events during this period, for example the impact of the arrival of Christianity and the impact of the Vikings, and studies how people lived, farmed, fished and traded, ate and were clothed. Students will be able to assess their learning from their notes and handouts, also through discussion, question and answer and tutor feedback. Suitable for all general interest students. No prior knowledge required.
