This stimulating 'Psychology - Understanding Personality' course in Maidstone is for anyone who has ever asked themselves the question - what makes me 'me'? The course will explore why a person is who they are and what makes them individual. Through the course learners will be guided through the following topics: Development of the Self-Concept - What is 'the self'?; Theories of self; Factors influencing the development of the self-concept; Developmental changes in the self-concept. Intelligence - Defining intelligence; Theories of intelligence; Intelligence testing; Explaining individual differences in intelligence: the nature vs. nurture debate. Personality - Theories (Kelly's personal construct, Humanistic and Psychodynamic) and approaches (Nomothetic, Idiographic and Psychometric). Psychological disorders will also be covered briefly.
