Creative Embroidery

UPDATED 20151112 07:15:17

On this 5 week Creative Embroidery course, new students will be introduced to using a variety of stitches, threads and fabrics, making your own, beautiful samples and embroidered pieces. You will explore colour, pattern, scale and texture, gaining a better understanding of how to design creative stitch work. You will be inspired by the work of contemporary and traditional embroidery artists from different cultures, and encouraged to keep a stitch journal. Returning students will develop their skills and knowledge of the craft further. By the end of the course you should: - be able to name and be able to use several different stitches, - be able to make samples using different threads, fabrics and stitches, - have increased awareness of the work of embroiderers from different times and cultures, - work to the relevant health and safety guidelines There is no set homework but you will get the most out of the course if you continue your work at home. There is no qualification for this course. This exciting 5 week course is for anyone interested in creative hand stitching, both traditional and contemporary. All levels of skill are welcome, especially if you have never embroiderd before.
