UPDATED 20151112 06:56:20

This 8 week course is a great introduction to sugarcraft and cake decorating and will give you the skills needed to create simple celebration cakes. You will be shown how to ice both round and square cakes and will work with both fruit and sponge cakes. You will learn how to stack a two tier cake for those larger celebrations and will be introduced to making sugar flowers. We will also look at sugarcraft modelling techniques and you will learn how to make an adorable model teddy bear. At the end of the course you should be able to: - colour sugarpaste, - ice and decorate a cakeboard using embossing techniques, - marzipan and ice a round fruitcake, - ice both round and square sponge cakes, - stack a two tier cake, - make a starburst, - make both wired and unwired roses, - make a model teddy bear, - use all tools and equipment safely, This course is ideal progression for anyone who has completed our previous Improver courses. You should be confident working with cakes and the different icing mediums. You should also have experience making wired sugar flowers and be familiar with the associated tools and equipment. This course is not suitable for beginners.
