Drawing and Painting - Creative Projects in Art

The main emphasis of this course is on drawing and painting in a creative and experimental way, leading to an individual expression and approach to art. Exercises and projects will not always result in finished pieces but will focus on exploring a variety of not only practical techniques but ways of seeing, recording and approaching different subject matter. By the end of the course, you should be able to: - Demonstrate a creative and diverse appraoch to image making , - Use a variety of observational and practical skills to interpret a variety of subject matter, - Use appropriate methods to collect ideas and experiment using relevant materials and techniques, - Successfully review and evaluate your own work, - Research and evaluate the work of a variety of artists to inform your own work and development in project -based tasks. , There is no set 'homework', but you are welcome to practise and do further work at home. There is no qualification for this course. Beginners and those with some experience.

Entry requirements

If you are a new student and have no materials please wait for your tutor's advice on what to buy. However, all students should bring an A4 sketchbook and a variety of pencils, charcoal, a putty rubber and a pen. You will need to provide your own materials and these will vary in cost according to the course requirements. If you have any materials/equipment that might be appropriate please bring them with you.
