In this Creative Writing course at Broadstairs Library you will develop a writing discipline through class writing exercises and weekly assignments. You will explore both how to write creatively and how to write effectively. You can choose whether to write from your own life or fiction. You will also explore another aspect of creative writing, such as, poetry or play writing. There is an expectation that you will share your writing in class and learn to give and receive constructive feedback. You will have the opportunity to review and refine your work to achieve a finished piece with which you are satisfied. The four learning outcomes for this course are: 1) Develop a regular writing habit by completing weekly writing exercises. 2)Contribute to class discussions and give and receive constructive comment. 3) Create characters and use different points of view. 4) Develop proof-reading, editive and drafting skills This course is for anyone who enjoys reading and would like to explore their own creativity and discover if they have a talent for fiction writing.
