This pottery course in Deal will give students the opportunity to develop skills to form clay into fired objects. Each student will be taught methods and techniques to suit their own level and pace. The pottery studio is well equipped to do hand building work, throwing on a wheel and has kilns which fire at both stoneware and earthenware temperatures. Students have the choice to make functional or sculptural pieces so long as it is feasible within the course time and the constraints of the pottery studio. During the course students will cover the following: - Introduction to clay, - Clay preparation. - Health and Safety, - Hand building techniques e.g pinching, slabbing, coiling, pressmoulding. - Throwing, - Turning, - Decoration techniques This course in Deal is for all levels of ability from beginners to more experienced students.

Please bring an overall, shirt or apron and a sketch book or notebook. Your tutor will discuss any other basic pottery tools you may need and where you can purchase these as the course progresses.
