Working with Chocolate - The Basics

This course is an ideal introduction to working with chocolate. We will look at using modeling chocolate to make decorations including edible chocolate roses and fans. You will also learn how to temper chocolate and how to make chocolate tiles. We will also look at piping with tempered chocolate. We will use the techniques learnt during the course to decorate a chocolate cake. By the end of the course students should be able to: - use modeling chocolate to make decorations including roses and fans, - temper chocolate , - make chocolate tiles using tempered chocolate, - pipe with tempered chocolate, - decorate a chocolate cake using the techniques learnt, - use all tools and equipment safely This course in Sandwich is for anyone interested in learning how to work with chocolate. It is suitable for beginners or those with some experience in cake decorating and sugarcraft.

Entry requirements

Students will need to provide their own chocolate, chocolate cake, icings and basic equipment. You will need a marble slab to work on for some elements of the chocolate work. The tutor will provide most specialist equipment for use during the lessons. The tutor will provide a list of the materials needed for the first lesson before the course starts.
