Design and create a stained glass panel or decorative item using traditional lead methods and/or copper foil. Students will learn the techniques of traditional leadwork to produce a finished stained glass item. Areas covered will include designing, cutting glass, assembling the project and cementing and soldering. By the end of the course students should be able to: Demonstrate successful use of skills and techniques relevant to all the making processes. Design, make (using personal ideas) and evaluate Stained Glass pieces , Demonstrate and understand the decorative and finishing aspects of Stained Glass, Work with Stained Glass confidently and creatively. Further develop personal ideas/outcomes with the tutor, Be aware of and work to relevant Health and Safety guidelines Beginners or those with more experience. This is a practical course where a degree of manual dexterity is required.

Essential for first session: Novices - 1 sheet 3mm glass about A3 size.Experienced - design ideas and drawing equipment and/or ongoing project and tools.Novices - please do not buy any specialist equipment before the start of the course. The requirements of each student and the amount and type of glass differs widely so you will be asked by the tutor to pay for any materials you use on an individual basis. Health and Safety: * You must wear closed toe shoes, * All masks, gloves and ear defenders will be supplied if necessary, * No drinks are allowed in the studio because of the possible risks of contamination.
