This is an applied advanced level qualification that offers a core learning package which provides students with the sound knowledge, understanding and skills that are needed in further education and employment. No prior knowledge is required for this course. Students will develop and sustain an interest in health, early years care and education, social care and issues affecting the care sector. Skills in research, evaluation, problem solving, Information Technology and the Internet will be developed. The content of the AS will focus on the needs of clients and the techniques and professional services aimed at meeting those needs. The key areas that will be study are rights, responsibilities and values, communication in care settings and health and wellbeing. The content of the A Level develops the AS content and investigates the services that are provided for clients and the role of the providers and the clients. Investigations and evaluations are made into how individual needs are met by the multi-disciplinary teams that work within the Health Service.
