Italian - Intermediate

UPDATED 20151112 11:44:35

Is this the right course for me? You should have studied Italian for 120 hours in the recent past but you may have maintained your level of Italian by spending time in the country and/or with Italian friends. You may have started your journey on the Languages Ladder. Some learners will have completed a course at this level in the previous term. What will I learn? You will improve your spoken and written Italian and by the end of the course you will be able: To understand spoken passages referring to present and past or future events To give a short prepared talk, on a chosen topic, expressing opinions and answering simple questions about it To take an active part in conversation To understand longer texts and distinguish present and past or future events To write a short text (e.g. a letter) giving and seeking information. How will I learn? The tutor will organise activities to practise speaking; writing, reading and listening to Italian. You will sometimes work in pairs or in small groups with your fellow students or watch a DVD/listen to a CD. You may also learn via PowerPoint and the Internet. The emphasis will be on speaking and understanding so expect the main language of the classroom to be Italian! Will I gain a qualification? Yes if you wish. You will have the opportunity to climb the Languages Ladder by receiving a Grade Certificate in one or more skills (speaking, listening, reading or writing. The scheme is optional but many learners decide to take this route. Your tutor will give you more information. What can I do next? You will be able to continue your studies next term at a higher level.
