Is this the right course for me? This is an Introduction to the world of scriptwriting, suitable for beginners and those with some previous writing experience. What will I learn? Writing for the screen is all about telling a story and creating memorable characters using a visual platform. During the day you will look at ideas and how to build up the layers of a story. You will look at basic structure and techniques that can help add depth to your characters. You will consider how to show character traits quickly and effectively and look at the importance of conflict and motivation. You will break down the elements that make up a scene and consider how to deliver maximum visual impact. How will I learn? Through a variety of class discussion and participation, working in small groups and pairs and individual exercises. Will I gain a qualification? You will not gain a formal qualification, but you may receive a Certificate of Attendance from your tutor. What can I do next? There are various creative writing classes that you could attend throughout the year at CLMK.
