UPDATED 20151112 09:59:30

Sociology, as a social science, is concerned with explaining how individual behaviour is affected by the social influences, social factors, that individuals experience during their lives. So, for example, it is concerned with such questions as –  What are the social factors that have contributed to the rise in the divorce rate in the UK?  What are the social factors that explain why girls now outperform boys on average in the education system?  What are the social factors which explain crime and the patterns of crime?
