The A Level design of the course allows the centre flexibility in choosing options to meet the needs of the individual. The aims of the course are that by learning about, and through, physical activities students will develop knowledge, skills and understanding which influence the quality of performance and the ability to improve performance. The course will develop in them an understanding of physiological, psychological, socio-cultural, contemporary, moral, global and historical factors of physical activity. Historically the centre has had a high pass rate and it offers a comprehensive range of subject-specific texts and has good local sporting facilities such as a sports hall, swimming pool, gymnasium and extensive outdoor areas.
