The AS course extends the algebra and trigonometry work covered at GCSE. More advanced mathematical techniques are developed in the Core 1 and Core 2 modules which can be used to solve quite difficult practical problems. An important application of mathematics - Statistics - will also be studied. The mathematics covered in the Statistics module can be used to represent and summarise data, and to calculate the probability of certain events happening.
