English Literature - AS / A Level

UPDATED 20161012 16:18:19

You will follow the AQA English Literature Specification A. You will start by studying for the AS examination; this will allow you to get a sense of how well suited you are to English Literature. It also means that you have a clear grade which you can put in any UCAS application. At AS you will study a Shakespeare play and a set of poems from either pre or post 1900. Alongside this you will study two prose texts. You will be focussing on the theme of Love Through the Ages and will examine the way in which your literary texts offer an insight in writer’s thoughts and feelings about this interesting and controversial subject area. The A Level course is a further year and incorporates the study that you have completed at AS with a single examination on all that you have learnt.
