The first year of a two year A2 course. The A-level PE syllabus aims to provide students with an understanding of all major concepts and principles underlying sport and physical education and to encourage a comprehensive knowledge of theoretical principles through practical examples. The syllabus takes a multi-disciplinary approach, encouraging the development of different methods of enquiry drawn from a wide range of disciplines, with the focal point being the performer and the performance. In Year 12 students study the following: application of anatomical and physiological knowledge to physical performance; acquiring, performing and teaching movement skills; and contemporary studies in Physical Education.
