A-level Mathematics is taught and examined on a modular basis. The modules have been arranged in three groups, for convenience denoted by C1-C4 (Core Mathematics), M1 (Mechanics) and S1 (Probability and Statistics) A summary of the content of each module can be found below, and further information on the subject matter of each module is available from any of the Mathematics Department staff. Assessment The assessment of each module will be by means of a single written examination paper of duration one hour thirty minutes, which is both set and marked by the Examining Board. There is no coursework. The total number of marks available for each examination paper is 72. Each question paper will consist of a number of questions of different lengths and mark allocations. There will be no choice of questions; students should attempt all the questions on the paper. Question papers will be designed to have a gradient of difficulty, with the more straightforward questions towards the beginning of the paper, and more demanding questions towards the end. The assessment of modules will take place as follows: A-Level Mathematics A-Level Mathematics June Year 12 C1 C2 S1 A-Level Mathematics June Year 13 C3 C4 M1 Students’ performance in each module will be graded on a five-point scale, equivalent to A-level grades A-E.
