UPDATED 20161107 09:45:39

Sociology is a stimulating and relevant subject, offering the opportunity to develop a range of transferable skills and a ‘sociological imagination’ for the purposes of studying how human society develops and changes and people interact with one another. It provides students with an understanding of how society can shape people and how people can shape society. The central aims of the A Level course in Sociology are to examine relationships and inequalities between individuals and the effects that social, economic and political influences may have on them and to develop within students a critical understanding of society. This is achieved by examining of two core themes: (1) Socialisation, Culture and Identity (2) Social Differentiation, Power and Stratification
