Introduction Diploma in Health, Social Care & Early Years (Adults)

This course has a high employability value. The units are focused on the knowledge employers in Health & Social Care require, in order to work with vulnerable individuals such as Dementia, Stroke and Protection & Safeguarding in HSC. It serves as a stepping stone to progress on to a level three course, in order to go to HE and become a nurse, social worker or work as a care assistant in a care home with the elderly. There are various progression routes to working in the Health or Social Care sector. The course has fifteen units to be completed. They vary from Protection & Safeguarding, Dealing with loss & Grief to Disability Awareness and Introduction to the Autistic Spectrum. It also includes overall knowledge about Communication, Duty of Care and Equality and Inclusion. Case studies are used to demonstrate application of knowledge. I - Learning Sessions This is additional time embedded in your programme for independent study. This time is used to work through assignments, complete homework activities and conduct wider reading and research to assist learning. Support Tutorials Group and one to one tutorials are set up on the programme to further assist you with successfully completing the course. Support tutorials are at flexible times to meet your needs. This could occur during the daytime and evenings. Personal Learning Plan Sessions A course tutor will be allocated to you on the programme. Your course tutor will be working with you to set realistic targets that will enable you to achieve. Your targets will be monitored weekly by your tutor and yourself.
