The main focus of this course is to build your knowledge of care organisations, policies and the role of the care worker. The units covered in the course will introduce you to skills that are essential when caring for children, young people older people. You will also learn about the aspects of living that are associated with maintaining a healthy lifestyle. By the end of the course you will know how to maintain healthy, safe and secure environments and understand further child development through the life stages. There is also an opportunity to try out your skills within a health and social care setting (depending on your area of interest), through a work experience placement. Functional Skills You will be studying Functional Skills (Maths and English) as part of your course to enable you to progress onto Level-2 qualifications. Work Experience opportunity. As part of the programme you will conduct a two week work placement in a Health and Social Care environment. This will allow you to apply your theoretical knowledge into a practical work setting. Multiple assignments will also be completed in relation to your work placement Enrichment Activities A range of Enrichment activities are incorporated within the programme. Examples of Enrichment activities conducted are sport activities, workshops, outings and debates. There is also the opportunity to request other enrichment activities that you have an interest in. I - Learning Sessions This is additional time embedded in your programme for independent study. This time is used to work through assignments, complete homework activities and conduct wider reading and research to assist learning. Support Tutorials Group and one to one tutorials are set up on the programme to further assist you with successfully completing the course. Support tutorials are at flexible times to meet your needs.
