This course will give you the practical skills that you need to work in a professional kitchen. It will cover all the basic cooking techniques needed as well as current industry practices and principles of cooking. Youll learn to prepare and cook a range of dishes, including stocks, soups and sauces, fruit and vegetables, meat and fish and more. On successful completion of the course you will be able to progress to Level 3 Professional Cookery. All equipment, materials and ingredients are provided, but you will need to buy a knife set and protective clothing. GCSE-Retakes. You will be retaking your GCSE Maths and English, if you did not achieve Grade C in any of these subjects, as part of your course to enable you to progress onto Level-3 qualifications. Work Experience opportunity As part of the programme you will conduct a two week work placement in a Business and Enterprise organisation/field of your choice. This will allow you to apply your theoretical knowledge into a practical work setting. Enrichment Activities A range of Enrichment activities are incorporated within the programme. Examples of Enrichment activities conducted are lectures by guest speakers from multinational hospitality chains and experienced chefs. Visits to various industry leaders. You will have an opportunity to participate in internal and external events where you will be able to show case your skills I-Learning Sessions This is additional time embedded in your programme for your study to promote independent learning. This time is used to work through assignments, complete homework activities and conduct wider reading and research. Support Tutorials Group and one to one tutorials are set up on the programme to further assist you with successfully completing the course and provide you with professional guidance and support throughout the course.
