Why study this subject? The qualification aims to develop a broad understanding of the retail environment, including the importance of customer service, team working, health and safety and general selling principles. It provides the learner with an understanding of up to date payment methods and stock control systems, as well as raising a critical awareness of current legislation relating to the retail environment. If you are interested in expanding your general knowledge and understanding of the retail sector or are preparing for employment within the retail field, then this is the course for you. It is also aimed at students who may wish to embark upon a Retail Modern Apprenticeship programme. Course content: • Candidates will study at least six of the following units: • Customer service in the retail sector. • How a retail business maintains health and safety on its premises. • The retail selling process. • How individuals and teams contribute to the effectiveness of a retail business. • Retail consumer law. • The handling of customer payments in a retail business. • Security and loss prevention in a retail business. • The control, receipt and storage of stock in a retail business.
