AS Physics consists of three units: Particles, Quantum Phenomena and Electricity, Mechanics, Materials and Waves (both examined in June) and Investigative and Practical Skills (school-based assessment submitted in April). The first unit introduces Particle Physics and Quantum Phenomena, where we learn about quarks, bosons and antimatter. It gives a fascinating insight to current research areas in Physics. It is great to be learning about the frontiers of Physics from the outset of the course and students often find this sparks a real interest in Particle Physics.
