Why study this subject? The BTEC National Award in Performing Arts (ACTING) is equivalent to one GCE A levels. It will give you an understanding of the Performing Arts with a specific focus on the essential skills, techniques and disciplines needed for a career in acting. The qualification provides you with an insight into the employment opportunities available, helping you to choose a career or move on to further study. What will I study? Subsidiary Diploma (Single Award) Students will take two mandatory units; Performing to an audience and Principles of Acting and then choose 6 optional units from a list composing of the following; Theatre for children, Drama Improvisation, Contemporary Theatre, Scriptwriting, Approaches to directing theatre, Developing a play, Voice and the actor ( subject to change). What can I do after the course? It is normal for students to progress from there on to Higher Education degrees in Drama, Performing Arts or Teaching. This course can also offer direct routes into employment within the performance industry.
