AS Paper 1: Mechanics, which includes motion graphs, Newton's Laws, Vectors, Equations of Motion and Work, Energy and Power and Electricity which includes Current Electricity, Ohm's Law, Resistivity, EMF and internal resistance and Potential Dividers. Paper 2: Materials, which includes Hooke’s Law, Stoke's Law and Young's Modulus and Waves and Particle Model of Light which includes refraction, total internal reflection, standing waves and lenses. A2 Paper 1: includes building on Mechanics and Electric Circuits knowledge gained at AS as well as Further Mechanics, Electric and Magnetic Fields and Nuclear and Particle Physics Paper 2: includes building upon Materials and Waves and Particle Nature of Light knowledge gained at AS as well as Thermodynamics, Space, Nuclear Radiation, Gravitational Fields and Oscillations. Both Paper 1 and Paper 2 are 1h45 min each in duration. Paper 3: a synoptic paper that may include questions on any topic covered in the specification as well as questions that assess conceptual and theoretical understanding of experimental methods (indirect practical skills).
