UPDATED 20151106 13:50:13

You will study three topics. The first relates to conflict and revolution in Britain between 1625 and 1701, including the English Civil War and the Cromwellian Protectorate as well as the Restoration of the monarchy. In addition, students will then study Russia in revolution between 1894 and 1924. In both cases, you will need to explore political and social change and analyse the factors that led to revolutionary change. You will also need to study the actions and characteristics of individuals including King Charles I, Oliver Cromwell and Lenin. The focus of the third unit of study centres on the changing nature and perception of warfare between 1859 and 1991 and will consider a number of factors that have altered the way wars are fought. You will complete a coursework unit that focuses on the controversial policy of appeasement between 1937 and 1939. This coursework assignment is designed to test your historical skills and understanding and will challenge you to consider a range of different interpretations.
