Why study this subject? This course is ideally suited to any student who has an interest in a career that involves dealing with the public. It is particularly useful for students who are considering a career in a health, care or early years occupations. This covers a wide range of jobs including teaching (early years), nursing, social work, the police, occupational therapy, radiography, personnel management etc. It is a gateway into higher education. Course content: Health and Social Care is available as a Single award (worth one A Level).The units covered are wide ranging and include: • Promoting Quality Care, • Communication in Care Settings, • Promoting Good Health, Care Practice and Provision. All students will have the opportunity to meet a variety of Health and Care professionals and look at working practices in a range of careers. Every Health and Social Care student goes out on work experience to widen their skills and add to their experience for a curriculum vitae. They are also trained in First Aid by an instructor and gain an accredited basic first aid certificate.
