The Fine Art course meets the needs of students wishing to pursue a Higher Education Degree and/or career in Fine Art. This course covers a range of disciplines including drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography, film and video, textiles and art history. Year one is given over to the learning and application of specialist techniques, whilst year two focuses on student initiated briefs and the application of ideas and concepts. The course is principally concerned with students? ability to generate creative ideas and use these in context with their work. Students develop these ideas through experimentation with techniques such as drawing, painting, printmaking, textiles, sculpture, photography and film. The first year of the course is exploratory, with the second year becoming more focused on the students? pathway choices. Student progress is supported by regular tutorials. Students additionally undertake Functional Skills in either Maths, English or ICT as part of their full-time course along with Workskills for Art and Design.
