French A level

UPDATED 20161103 15:49:45

Gain an in-depth knowledge of the culture and society of France and speak a foreign language fluently. Why choose French? If you dream of speaking a foreign language fluently and impressively and perhaps even working abroad, studying French will bring this ambition within your grasp and it will equip you with a variety of unique skills that will be invaluable in the future. You will become a more knowledgeable and informed person and debates and discussions in the classroom will give you a broad perspective on a wide range of issues and topics. You will also gain in-depth knowledge of France and French speaking countries. Topics will include social issues and trends, as well as the opportunity to explore cultural themes through film or literature. There are native Foreign Language Assistants working in the Modern Languages department who are available to help and support you with small group conversation work. There will be the opportunity for you to take part in an exchange trip and there is also a French Society which is run by students. "I really like how these lessons have a great structure, so you know before the lesson what type of work you are going to be doing, whether it's grammar or speaking practice. The teaching is brilliant and you receive all the help you need, which includes many opportunities for catch up sessions and one to one lessons." Finlay Drummond
