This course will suit students who enjoy practical work, listening to music and can either play a musical instrument or sing. It is not necessary to have passed any instrumental exams to do this course. The course has 3 main components: 1. Performing - 2 pieces either solo or ensemble 2. Composing - Coursework 3. Listening and Appraising on 4 areas of study: * Repetition and Contrast in Western Music 1600 - 1899 * New Directions in Western Classical Music 1900 onwards * Popular Song * Rhythms, scales and modes from around the world Applicants are welcomed at Level 1 or Level 2, who indicate a clear interest in music on their profile.
