Design and Technology is an essential aspect of our lives as it is a major aspect of todays environment. All products are designed and manufactured and they are produced to enrich and improve society.Graphic Products is a dynamic and exciting subject that offers great scope for drawing, designing and making. You will design and develop such products as mobile phones, computer mice, computer consoles, computer games, DVDs, MP3 players, games, audio equipment, CDs, packaging and posters. You will become a designer and evolve products from their conception through to finished final product. A good imagination and ability to push yourself are both important elements to this subject.In Year 10 you will cover minor practice projects and exam theory work. This year is the time to develop and build good design and drawing skills.In Year 11 you will select your own major project (with guidance from your teacher). A successful graphic pupil can continue their studies to AS and A-Level. There is a wealth of career opportunities in this subject field.

Name: Design & Technology: Graphic Products Qualification title: Design & Technology: Graphic Products Qualification type: GCSE or equivalent Assessment The assessment will consist of two components, a terminal exam, which is allocated 40% of the GCSE marks, and a coursework project, which is allocated 60% of the GCSE marks. The examination is set on two levels:Foundation -grades G - C Higher - Grades C - A*It is estimated that the coursework project should be completed with 40 hours of teacher supervised class time (mainly in Year 11). General Grade Descriptors Grade A pupils will acquire a high degree of Design and Making knowledge and understanding which will be reflected both on project coursework and theory examinations. High quality work reflects sound subject understanding and design appreciation, high levels can only be achieved by good time management, hard work and commitment. Pupils will produce an outstanding project coursework. Grade C pupils will acquire a good degree of Design and Making knowledge and understanding which will be reflected on both project coursework and theory examinations. A grade C is achieved by covering all assessment criteria covered on the project coursework and theory exam. Appropriate use of design processes is required on the products of project coursework. Grade F pupils will only acquire a basic degree of Design and Making knowledge and understanding which will be reflected both on project coursework and theory examinations.
