What will I do on this study programme? The study programme will develop your research, creative, problem solving, team working and interpersonal skills. This will mean that you will finish the study programme head and shoulders above other job-seekers. It is made up of 18 topics which will introduce you to all areas of travel and tourism. You will also explore specific subjects in more depth, such as the cruise sector, long-haul travel destinations the European travel market, cruising, event management and dark tourism. As part of your study programme you will have the opportunity to go on visits within the UK and a residential abroad. A feature of this study programme is that it is practically based and many local tourism-related businesses contribute specialist input. Assignments are based on real case studies and businesses set employer-led challenges for our students. This study programme also includes Maths and English, tutorial support, study skills, work related experience, employability skills and personal and social development (PSD). Maths and English are a fundamental element of this study programme. Skills in Maths and English will be embedded into your academic/ vocational learning. If you do not have a grade C in Maths and/or English you will attend a discrete GCSE or Functional Skills class as part of your weekly timetable. How will I be assessed? Observation of practical activities, group work, presentations, coursework, online assessments and examinations. What options do I have after successfully completing? Tourism Management, Foundation Degree, run in partnership with Bath Spa University at Weston College. Job/career opportunities Events organiser, marketing assistant, air cabin crew, travel agent, cruise ship steward, overseas resort representative locally, nationally.
