What will I do on this study programme? Based in our well-equipped and up-to-date salon, this course gives you a good basic training in hairdressing, covering all the practical skills of a salon, such as cutting, colouring and styling. Your personal skills and confidence will be developed to work effectively and professionally with clients and colleagues. This study programme has been specifically designed to develop your knowledge and practical skills through the study of a variety of optional units and the following mandatory units The art of dressing hair Client consultation for hair services Working in the hair industry Cut women's hair Colour and lighten hair Shampoo and condition the hair and scalp Follow health and safety practices. You will further develop your knowledge and apply the skills you have learned through working in a real life commercial salon and attending work placements throughout the year. In addition, tutorial support, personal and social development, and Maths and English development are fundamental elements of this study programme and will be embedded into your vocational learning. If you do not have a grade C in Maths and/or English you will attend a discrete GCSE or Functional skills class as part of your weekly timetable. Over 19's completing this qualification will also have the opportunity to complete a Retail Skills Certificate, which is compatible with the Apprenticeship framework. How will I be assessed? We will assess you all through the year with online tests, practical work, assignments and projects. You will also have an online gradebook that you will keep up-to-date and manage targets set for you throughout the year by your tutor. What options do I have after successfully completing?
