What will I do on this study programme? Want to feel the buzz of a big event? On this study programme you'll learn how to manage events from finances and marketing to food and drink. You'll also get the chance to put theory into practice working with event organisers, complete a period of work experience at Cheltenham for the Gold Cup week and even be part of exciting management academy with Hilton. During your second year you will embark on a period of compulsory work experience with a prestigious national organisation, subject to high performance. In addition, you will plan and run your own prestigious event representing a charity of your choice. Learning mainly at college, you will take part in work experience, practical activities, projects case studies and a final 'Dragons Den' style event pitch. The study programme is made up of a number of core and optional units to choose from including the hospitality and event industry, providing customer service, financial control, principles of supervising customer service, European food, food and drink service, accommodation operations, front office operations, business enterprise, marketing, human resources, events organisation, planning and managing an event. How will I be assessed? We'll assess you through coursework - that means projects, presentations, case studies and work experience. We assess practical cooking modules in the kitchen. What options do I have after successfully completing? Progress to Foundation Degree or BA (Hons) in Event Management. Job/career opportunities Event, hospitality or business management, human resources and marketing.
