What will I do on this apprenticeship? Apprenticeships are all about learning on the job - getting paid while you get qualified. You'll learn from a qualified teacher and mentor in school, and come to college for approximately one day a week to learn about the technical aspects of the job role and get support from your personal assessors. You will do the QCF level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, functional skills in English, maths and ICT, Personal learning and thinking skills and employment rights and responsibilities. Topics will include Child and young personal development Support children and young people's positive behaviour Support learning activities Support children and young people's health and safety. How will I be assessed? We will assess your practical skills and observe you at work. A work based assessor will visit you in your workplace to review your progress and make sure you are on target to get your qualifications. Most assessments will be portfolio based with the exception of Functional Skills. What options do I have after successfully completing? Progress to Advanced apprenticeship then get a teaching assistant graded post. Job/career opportunities You will be able to apply for jobs in schools as a teaching assistant/ learning support assistant.
