What will I do on this A Level? A Level Law will help you to understand the world we live in by helping you develop skills in critical analysis and debate. You will also visit the local magistrates' court and the Supreme Court. Year 1 You will study the English legal system. This includes topics such as Judges, juries and magistrates; court procedure - how law is made and applied in the courts Contract law - how a contract is made, and the remedies for a breach Criminal law - non-fatal offences against the person (assault and battery), and sentencing. Year 2 You will study the following topics Criminal law - murder, manslaughter, non-fatal offences against the person, defences such as insanity and automatism Tort - nuisance, negligence, occupiers' liability - and concepts of law morals and judicial creativity. How will I be assessed? All units will be assessed by external exams. What options do I have after completing this A Level? A degree at university in law - study for an Institute of Legal Executives (ILEX) qualification, employment and apprenticeship Careers exist in local government, the finance sector, legal profession, the police force and more.
