What will I do on this A Level? This subject gives you the chance to get creative and innovative as you develop your product design skills and learn about the complex relationships between design, materials, manufacturing and marketing. Covering all aspects of the design process, this A Level explores new technologies. You will look at how the latest innovations are being used in the next generation of products. Taught by a specialist tutor, you will have access to fully equipped workshops including CAD/CAM and creative art and design facilities. You will carry out a major design project, producing a design portfolio and a final product. End of year exams will assess how well you understand the design process, relevant materials, manufacturing technology, marketing and the 'innovation challenge' will assess your design and modelling skills. This subject will give you a good grounding in both design work and a good knowledge of manufacturing. How will I be assessed? You will be assessed through coursework (60%) and exams (40%). What options do I have after completing this A Level? UAL Foundation Art, Level 3+4 offered at Weston College Weston College's Foundation Degree (FdA) Graphic Design offered in partnership with Bath Spa, plus the opportunity to top-up on successful completion to the BA (Hons) A degree in a design related subject including product design, transport design, graphic design, and computer aided design and technology.
