A Level Accounting

UPDATED 20151104 09:47:45

Do you like working with numbers or solving puzzles such as Su Doku? If you get the wrong answer in a Maths problem or puzzle, what do you do? If these tasks appeal to you, then Accounting may well suit you. The best students will get a buzz from persevering and getting answers right. A large aspect of the course is looking into financial accounting, therefore the course enables students to develop their understanding of how different organisations develop and maintain their financial records, as well as measuring expenditure, profit and loss. Most of what you will learn, we will apply to practical exercises. Although accounting has some theory, much of it is about learning skills and techniques and then practising them. Additionally, we have guest speakers who work within the financial sector who present practical applications of accounting as well as discuss career opportunities beyond the course. Accounting is the language of business and being able to speak that language will benefit you, whether you choose to start your own business or work for somebody else. Accounting complements other subjects, particularly Business, Economics and ICT. Students can progress on to a number of routes such as university, reading subjects such as Business and Finance, AAT Apprenticeships or other school leaver opportunities working within the finance industry.
